Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) was given a huge shock in recent EastEnders scenes by Keeley Wainwright (Kirsty J Curtis), following her car accident.
Whitney was mowed down by a speeding car after chasing after distressed Britney Wainwright (Lola Campbell), but thankfully both her and her unborn baby were fine.
Despite the ordeal, Whitney’s main concern was Britney, especially after her mum Keeley was arrested for drug dealing, and Britney was still missing.
Thankfully, Zack Hudson (James Farrar) managed to track her down, though Whitney was shocked to discover that he had called social services.
When Britney’s social worker informed Whitney and Zack that the police might be keeping Keeley in, and Britney would have to stay with her step-dad, Whitney argued that that wouldn’t be a good idea.
Instead, the social worker suggested foster care, to which Whitney informed him that she and Zack were registered foster parents and could take Britney in.
This caused huge friction between her and Zack, who was desperate to get back to Walford and resume life as normal.
Whitney wasn’t prepared to leave without Britney, and a row erupted between them as Zack admitted that he didn’t want to foster.
Having been given the choice to either stay or leave, Zack chose to go back to Walford, leaving Whitney and Britney behind.
While watching Zack drive off, Whitney noticed Keeley heading home from the police station, and decided to go over to her flat to confront her about her parenting.
She admonished Keeley for the state of the place and for having no food in the fridge, demanding to know if she thought this was an acceptable way to bring up a child.
It was then that Keeley shocked Whitney by asking her to do her a favour and take Britney off her hands.
