Members of the Coronation Street crew recently came together to say goodbye to producer Iain MacLeod.

The soap boss, who previously worked on Emmerdale, moved over to Corrie five years ago and has been responsible for some of the serial’s most acclaimed stories in that timeframe, from Geoff Metcalfe’s abuse of Yasmeen to Seb Franklin’s tragic death in a hate-crime narrative.

But, with immediate effect, Iain now will be responsible for leading the creative teams who produce both Coronation Street and Emmerdale in Manchester and Leeds reporting to John Whiston, Managing Director of Continuing Drama and Head of ITV in the North with a direct line to Huw Kennair Jones, ITV Drama Commissioner.

Writing legend Jonathan Harvey shared some images from their evening on Instagram. The pictures featured Iain making a speech to his friends, and some hilarious bunting with his face on.

‘I have been honing my skills in producer roles for the past decade and I am brimming with ideas for what the next chapter on each show will look like – I can’t wait to get started!’

This news comes after Jane Hudson, who worked on Emmerdale as boss for five years, stepped down from the role, with fellow producer Laura Shaw taking over.
