There, she regularly speaks openly and honestly about her dad David, who died on January 12 after a ‘long battle with prostate cancer’.

‘It is with immense sadness that we confirm the passing of David Marsh,’ read the statement at the time.

‘A much-loved husband, dad, grandad, great grandad, and friend to many, David passed away peacefully at home on Friday surrounded by his family.’

‘We are truly heartbroken and ask for privacy at this incredibly difficult time.’

Over the weekend, Kym shared a lovely picture of herself and David on her Instagram to mark his birthday.

‘Happy birthday Daddy. First one without you here. Can’t bear it. I miss you so much 😢😢😢’, she wrote alongside.

The Waterloo Road actress received many kind and sympathetic messages in the comments section from her followers and friends.

‘Happy birthday Dave. Have a drink up there for us! Xxx’, fellow TV presenter Fleur East wrote while Bhavna Limbachia, a former Corrie star, simply said: ‘Sending love ❤.’

Back in November, Kym featured in an emotional interview on Morning Live where she spoke about her dad’s cancer.

During the pre-recorded clip, Kym told viewers: ‘I wouldn’t want to see anyone else go through this. I get more emotional than my dad does, he’s so strong it’s unbelievable.

‘We know we’ve got to that point where they can’t do anything else for him, and they said “go and make memories with your family” and that’s very much what we’re doing.’
