ITV Corrie’s Peter Barlow REBORN! Gascoyne Swaps Cobbles for Killer Role with Soap Queen!

Coronation Street fans will know Chris Gascoyne best as loveable rogue Peter Barlow, with the actor having played the role since 2000, but he is set to hit our screens again in a completely different role.

Peter left the cobbles of Corrie behind on Boxing Day last year, when he set sail for a new life following Chris’ departure from the ITV soap.

Now, Chris is taking on a new role alongside soap legend Jill Halfpenny in new Channel 5 drama The Feud.

Since playing Rebecca Hopkins and Kate Mitchell in Corrie and EastEnders respectively, Jill has been no stranger to TV dramas.

While Jill stars in The Feud as Emma Barnett, who’s big decision has huge consequences for everyone around her, Chris appears as intimidating builder Lee.

The Feud is a six-part series that explores Emma and husband John’s (Rupert Penry-Jones) close friendships with their neighbours, and how things begin to spiral out of control when they make the seemingly ordinary decision to add an extension to their kitchen.

As objections to the plans are raised, unexpected skeletons and life-threatening secrets begin to rise to the surface. Laced with menace, The Feud reveals how Emma’s aspirational dream turns sharply into obsession, paranoia, and fear.

Speaking about filming the new series, Jill said: ‘The spiral that we see Emma’s world take in The Feud, from one seemingly innocent situation to life altering revelations, is something I can’t wait to dive into!

‘Getting to work in the Northeast with the teams at Channel 5 and Lonesome Pine, along with the rest of this brilliant cast, is a joy.’

Chris and Jill are not the only soap stars set to appear in this new domestic thriller, with EastEnders’ Larry Lamb and Emmerdale’s Amy Nuttall also joining the cast.

EastEnders viewers will be hard pressed to forget Larry’s portrayal of evil villain Archie Mitchell, while Emmerdale fans will fondly remember when Amy played Chloe Atkinson in the ITV soap.

Rounding off the cast are Ray Fearon, James Fleet, Tessa Peake-Jones, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Alex Macqueen, Judith Alexander and Joel Beckett, as well as TV newcomers Megan Trower, Luke Hammond and Joel Kai Ali.

The Feud has already begun filming in Newcastle, and is set to hit our screens in 2025.
