ITV Corrie legend Alan Halsall ‘not feeling 100%’ following surgery and split from co-star girlfriend

Coronation Street actor Alan Halsall has admitted to ‘not feeling 100%’ following knee surgery last year.

Best known for playing Tyrone Dobbs in the ITV soap since 1998, he recently split from his co-star girlfriend Tish Merry, who played Steph Britton.

They met on set back in 2014 and started dating in 2019 when she left her role.

The breakup occurred just months after having an operation to fix an ACL injury.

The ACL, or anterior cruciate ligament, crosses in the middle of the knee and connects the thighbone to the shinbone to stabilise your joint.

It can be injured in a variety of ways, usually by stopping suddenly or changing momentum when running or cycling.

At the time, he shared a picture of himself in bed with his leg propped up, noting that the surgery was his leg and would require nine to twelve months of rehabilitation.

To facilitate his op, Tyrone was written out of the show to go on holiday with wife Fiz (Jennie McAlpine), but Alan has since returned to filming.

Last weekend, he seemed keen to get out and about again with his daughter Sienna, 10, who he shares with ex-wife Lucy-Jo Hudson who also used to appear in Corrie as Katy Harris.

Taking to Instagram stories, he shared a picture of them both to his 235,000 followers.

‘I can’t say I’m feeling 100% but after the last several months of rain I really wanted Sienna to be outdoors and have some adventures this [bank] holiday’ he added.

‘…and we have!’

He also uploaded a series of snaps from across the weekend, and captioned it: ‘My smile is biggest when I’m with my daughter.’

‘A bank holiday weekend well spent, outdoors and having fun with our family.’

The pictures were met with a great reception from co-stars Georgia Taylor and Samia Longchambon who both liked the post, and from fans who sent their support.

‘Alan you’re a dream dad. [I] hope your knee is ok hun, love the crazy nurse’ commented one follower, who seemed to be one of the medical professionals that helped him following surgery.

‘You are an absolute credit to her. Just from your pictures you can see how much you love your daughter – the bond you have is beautiful’ commented another.
