ITV Coronation Street’s Colson Smith reunites with ‘old mate’ and Strictly winner

Coronation Street star Colson Smith enjoyed a wholesome reunion with his former onscreen girlfriend Ellie Leach.

The pair both began their journey on the show in 2011, and have been a regular fixture in each other’s working lives which has led to a friendship.

Colson and Ellie played engaged couple Craig Tinker and Faye Windass on the soap, and off-screen things may not be romantic, but they still share a strong bond.

Taking to Instagram Story, the actor shared a selfie at this year’s TV Choice Awards.

He captioned the snap: ‘Saw my old mate @ellielouiseleach.’

Ellie portrayed Faye Windass for 12 years, with the character departing Weatherfield for a new life with her partner and their daughter Miley.

A few of Colson’s Corrie co-stars will be taking part in a new upcoming series titled Drama Queens, including Ellie.

The official release teases: ‘Viewers can expect an inside look at the real, unscripted lives of these beloved soap stars, going behind the scenes of red-carpet events, awards ceremonies, house moves, and precious family moments.

‘With the soap stars leading interconnected lives, the series introduces the genuine friendship groups between them.’

The Sun claims that the actress will be joined by her former co-star and real life cousin Brooke Vincent, who played Sophie Webster, as well as Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt).

Speaking about the new gig, Ellie said: ‘People are so used to seeing me play the character Faye Windass and I’m just so excited for everyone to see who I am and what goes on in my day-to-day life as just Ellie.’
