ITV Coronation Street Star Samia Longchambon forced to make change to Maria after ‘distracting director’
Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has made a slight change to her character after being the cause of distraction.
The Maria Connor actress, 41, asked her Instagram followers for advice on apink, patterned turtleneck top that she regularly wears in the ITV soap.
Posting a picture of herself in the outfit, she penned: ‘Every time I (as Maria) wear this top on @coronationstreet I get messages saying it looks like I’ve had a neck tattoo… should we ditch it or keep it?! Tell me below… you can decide Maria’s wardrobe on this one.’
While fans insisted that her signature look was fine, she offered an update on her Instagram Stories saying that she will be ditching the top following a conversation with the director.
‘So after my post the other day about Maria’s top that makes it look like I’ve got a neck tattoo… I thought I’d just come on and give you a little update,’ she said in a clip.
‘Loads saying keep it, loads saying ditch it. But after I put that post up I went on to set in the studio and did a line run with Mikey (North, who plays Gary Windass) and our lovely director, Jason.

‘The first thing that Jason said to me afterwards was: “That top makes it look like you’ve got a neck tattoo and I was really distracted.”‘
She concluded: ‘He’d not seen the post at that point so I think if the director is distracted by the top then that’s probably not a good sign. So I think we’re going to have to ditch the top – and I will give it to charity.’
Over in Corrie land, Maria’s son Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall) has been subjected to bullying from Dylan (Liam McCheyne), Mason (Luca Toolan) and his gang.
The ordeal has been horrible and uncomfortable to watch. Liam has been confronted multiple times by the group, had rubbish thrown at him and was even faced with the threat of being stabbed.
In Monday’s (January 22) episode, Liam decided he would face Mason and agreed to their meeting over lunch.
Back in Weatherfield, Liam and Dylan’s scuffle was impacting Maria and Gary’s (Mikey North) relationship with SeanTully(Antony Cotton). The couple revealed that Liam had been suspended, but Sean continued to accuse Liam of being a bully – and all Dylan could do was keep quiet.
