Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has given a bit of an insight into his recovery after undergoing an operation last year.

Alan, 41, is best known for playing Tyrone Dobbs in the show and revealed on his social media recently that he’s had major surgery.

In a video shared on his Instagram Story, Alan told his fans he was in a rehab session and was seen puffing and panting through a weight exercise as he builds up the strength back in his left leg.

He added GIFs which read ‘ACL rehab’, ’12 weeks’ and ‘on track’ before he typed: ‘Facials.’

In a previous image shared on his Instagram, Alan could be seen lying on a bed as he put a positive thumbs up to the camera.

He penned: ‘CL Reconstruction surgery ✔️Well, On Friday I underwent ACL reconstruction surgery. I have been told the surgery went really well.

‘I know I have a long 9-12 months of rehabilitation ahead of me but I’m sure with the support of family & friends I’ll get there. 👊

He continued: ‘Thank you to the amazing! Staff at Oaklands xx
..and also Thanks to my very own nurse Ratched @missdrewmerry93 😝 Any rehab tips or advise??’.

Before his temporary exit from the soap, Tyrone faced a stressful and emotional time when he was introduced to his biological mother and recovering drug addict Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney).

After spending the majority of his life believing his mum had died, Tyrone was given a massive shock when Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) headed back to the cobbles with Cassie in tow, revealing she’d known of her whereabouts for well over a year.
