ITV Coronation Street spoilers: Steve’s plan to put the passion back into his marriage as Tracy has sex with Tommy
Hapless Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) tries his best to make sparks fly again with wife Tracy (Kate Ford) next week, oblivious to the fact she has been unfaithful with his idol Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn).
Steve and Tracy aren’t exactly Coronation Street’s answer to Posh and Becks, but with a rich history and many, many disputes between the pair, some would be forgiven in thinking that their bond spanning over thirty years is unbreakable.
In the past, she’s attempted to break up his marriage with Karen Phillips (Suranne Jones) by announcing at the alter that Steve had fathered their daughter Amy (now Elle Mulvaney) and then sold the baby to the kind-hearted Croppers (David Neilson and Julie Hesmondhalgh).
She then went on to murder Charlie Stubbs (Bill Ward) forcing Steve to become a single father, then, following her release from prison, she fabricated a story that Steve’s ex-partner Becky (Katherine Kelly) had pushed her down a flight of stairs causing her to miscarry their twins.
The couple eventually reunited at Christmas in 2017, and wed for a second time the following year, but Steve soon rocked the marriage by fathering a son, Oliver, with Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
Despite all of this, the duo have provided much comic relief over the last few years, with the cracks in their marriage largely going unnoticed until Tracy flirted with Steve’s hero, former Weatherfield County footballer Tommy Orpington, in the flower shop on Christmas Day last month.
Now working as a painter and decorator, Tracy has recently hired Tommy to renovate their bedroom at No. 1, but with Steve away visiting daughter Emma (Alexandra Mardell) in France, her attentions have swayed further than what colour paint is on special offer in Freshco’s…
We’ve seen the two grow closer in Steve’s absence, embarking on a steamy affair that’s sure to send shockwaves around the street, particularly with Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine), Kevin Webster (Michael LeVell) and Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment), who have been thrilled at Tommy’s presence on the cobbles.
Arriving back in Weatherfield earlier than expected, Steve attempts to add a Parisian flavour to their marriage next week when he lays on a lavish French buffet for his unfaithful wife, who has spent the last week lusting over Tommy O, after he openly admitted to fancying her.
