ITV Coronation Street spoilers – Roy Cropper gets a new ally who knows just what it’s like to be accused of a young woman’s murder
Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) takes it upon himself to try and help Roy Cropper (David Neilson) in Coronation Street soon, fully aware of what it’s like to be wrongly accused of a young woman’s murder.
Shortly after we met Stu for the first time, it became apparent he was in prison for the best part of 30 years prior to him becoming homeless.
The news shocked Weatherfield, even more so when they learnt he was in prison for supposedly murdering a young lady called Charlie.
As Stu tried to convince his friends and family that he never committed the crime, Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) was introduced as the lawyer who went on to quash the case and prove Stu Carpenter didn’t kill Charlie – but his daughter Bridget did.
Recently in Coronation Street, Roy Cropper was arrested on suspicion of Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) murder. As it stands, we currently don’t know what happened to Lauren after she went missing, but DS Swain (Vicky Myers) is acting on her suspicions and believes Roy was involved in her death.
Coming up, Nina (Mollie Gallagher) makes it clear to Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) and Shona (Julia Goulding) that despite all the abusive calls, they must still answer the phone as Roy is hoping for a call from Lauren’s mum.
Meanwhile, after reading through some comments online, Stu tells Yasmeen (Shelley King) and Alya (Sair Khan) that he intends to help Roy clear his name as he knows what it’s like to be wrongly accused.
In the precinct, Stu talks to a homeless guy, hoping for information about Lauren but as he pulls out his wallet, he fails to notice the man picking up a brick.
When Stu returns to Speed Daal covered in blood, he reveals to Yasmeen that he was hit with a brick and had his wallet stolen.
Later, in the cafe, matters are made worse for Roy when Evelyn tells him Hayley’s son, Christian, has posted some hurtful things about him and Hayley online.
As life falls apart for Roy Cropper, will the truth about Lauren’s disappearance ever be revealed?
