ITV Coronation Street spoilers: New Power Couple? Carla DITCHES Peter for Sexy Detective – Is This Her Happily Ever After?

Following Peter Barlow’s (Chris Gascoyne) exit in Coronation Street, Carla Connor (Alison King) has been feeling a little bit lonely.

She certainly has friends around her and the likes of nephews Bobby (Jack Carroll) and Ryan (Ryan Prescott), but when it comes to romances and feeling wanted in that capacity, things have been non existent.

Of course, this is largely down to the fact moving on from Peter Barlow was never going to be easy for Carla. But with the beloved character set to see a picture of her ex with his arm around another woman, is it time for Carla to look elsewhere?

In upcoming episodes, Carla continues to spend more time with DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) in a more, personal capacity away from murder accusations and interrogations.

About time, given those ongoing hopes for from some fans that they will become friends – or even more.

Away from Swain investigating Lauren’s (Cait Fitton) apparent murder, she finds time to start developing this friendship with Carla.

When Carla overhears Swain rowing with her daughter on the phone, she encourages the detective to open up.

Lisa explains to Carla that her partner died recently and her daughter is struggling with her grief.

Towards the end of the week, Carla decides to help Swain and offers Betsy, her daughter, some work experience at the factory.

Rumours of a romance between Swain and Carla have been circulating for quite some time. Will these upcoming scenes establish further romantic chemistry between them?

This development comes after the news DS Lisa Swain has now become a permanent character in the ITV soap.

‘I think she perhaps has seen somebody that’s caught her eye but at the moment she’s far too busy with focusing on this investigation and her career and being a single mum and juggling her home life as well with her teenage daughter’, Vicky Myers previously told Metro.co.uk.

‘If anybody out there has got teenage daughters they can quite well understand what I’m saying with that.

‘Obviously to portray that with authenticity, to be creatively challenged by that, is brilliant and I’m very thankful to be given this opportunity.’
