ITV Coronation Street spoilers: Missing Aggie Bailey gets the shock of her life in dramatic development
Aggie Bailey (Lorna Laidlaw) was given some devastating news about husband Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) in Monday’s (January 29) episode of Coronation Street.
Last week, Michael (Ryan Russell) ended up in serious danger when he noticed the builder’s yard was on fire. He assumed dad Ed was inside and rushed in to save him, but quickly became trapped when the flames grew bigger.
In the aftermath, a suspicious Craig (Colson Smith) wondered if the fire had started as a result of a dodgy insurance claim. He knew Ed was battling a gambling addiction and suggested the insurance job could’ve happened in the hope of paying off his debts.
In tonight’s instalment of the ITV soap, Ed was questioned by the police regarding the theory. He continued to maintain that he didn’t start the fire but when Michael discovered his dad was being investigated, he was horrified.
A panicked and emotional Michael shouted at Ed, pointing out there’s every chance he did start the fire on purpose because of how much he’s lied over the past few months.
Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) tried to defend her dad but as far as Michael was concerned, his dad was responsible for something that put him in hospital.
That evening, while Dee-Dee and Ed chatted in the cafe, Michael was on his own.
He made a phone call to Aggie and broke down in tears, revealing there was something he had to tell her.
When Ed returned, he was heartbroken to discover Michael had told Aggie – who is currently away from Weatherfield at her sister’s house – absolutely everything.
With Ed convinced that his wife ‘had washed her hands of him’, there was nothing stopping him from revealing the truth about the fire to Dee-Dee.
Ed confirmed that while he didn’t start the fire as part of an insurance job, he wanted something horrible to happen to rid him of the debt problems, as well as everything he was currently feeling.
A disgusted Dee-Dee stood up and left, leaving Ed all alone.
