ITV Coronation Street spoilers: Exit drama confirmed for Evelyn and Cassie Plummer leaving Tyrone Dobbs in turmoil

Relations between Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) and her daughter Cassie (Claire Sweeney) have not always been entirely harmonious in Coronation Street – to say the least.

Even when Cassie has tried to help, such as getting involved when Evelyn suspected a man of running a puppy farm – it’s usually Evelyn who ends up paying the price.

Even Cassie’s efforts to bond with granddaughters Hope (Isabella Flanagan) and Ruby (Billie Naylor) have frequently backfired as Cassie’s attempts to be a cool grandma have met with disapproval from Tyrone. Treating Hope to a nose piercing for her birthday was not a smart move.

So with Fiz’s return from her job in Norfolk (and Jennie McAlpine’s return from maternity leave) imminent, attention turns to where everyone is going to live – and Evelyn and Cassie realise that one of them will have to move out of number 9.

Coronation Street picture shows Tyrone Dobbs stunned as he confronts Evelyn Plummer and Cassie in the bistro

Each of them decides it’s the other who should move out, and they’re still arguing the point when Fiz and Tyrone arrive home.

It’s not the homecoming that Fiz was hoping for, but trying to be as diplomatic as possible she points out to Tyrone that he’s going to have to choose between his nan and his mum.

Jennie McAlpine confirmed she was filming at Corrie again in January, with Alan Halsall sharing a picture on his Instagram of his entire Corrie family with Fiz once again at the heart of things.

Knowing that only one of them can stay in the family home, it’s the cue for Cassie and Evelyn to get competitive.

Knowing that the way to Tyrone’s heart is through his stomach they both try to impress him with their cooking skills.

Poor Ty, he doesn’t know what to decide so he opts out of choosing either one of them and says he wants both of them to stay. This is clearly not going to work, as Fiz is quick to point out.

Will they all manage to find a solution to the overcrowding problem at number 9?
