ITV Coronation Street Spoilers: Bethany Platt hides a big secret from Daniel Osbourne
When Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) returned to Coronation Street, her family believed she was back after starting up a successful journalism career in London.
Bethany explained to Sarah (Tina O’Brien) that it doesn’t really matter where she lives, as she can find herself a seat, desk, and work wherever she wants.
But how often is she actually working?
In upcoming episodes, Daniel (Rob Mallard) finds Bethany writing an article in the cafe. He asks what it’s about, but Bethany’s evasive and avoids the subject.
Later, Bethany calls her publisher, but is disappointed when they make it clear they’re not interested in her article.
In the week, when Daniel reminds Bethany that it’s her turn to treat him to tea, she makes out that she can’t due to working to a deadline.
On her own, Bethany checks her bank balance and looks at her overdraft with concern, but covers when Sarah arrives.
Finding Suki, the journalist from the Gazette, Bethany chats to her hoping for some work. Suki fails to give her a job, but tells Bethany to try Chit-Chat Magazine, as they might be looking for someone.
Is this a sign Bethany isn’t doing as well as she makes out?
How desperate could she get to hide the truth from her family?
Pondering over Bethany’s future in Weatherfield, Lucy Fallon recently said to us: ‘I’d like to see her and Daisy become friends. I’d like to see her pursue her journalism career and for it all to like, work out. But then I do want that to be some drama. I don’t know what drama I want that to be, but I hope that there is some!’
This could be tied up with whatever she was getting up to in London, as the actress teased that Bethany has a few skeletons in her cupboard from her time in the capital.
‘She’s basically been forced to come back. There is something that has happened in London that has kind of forced her to come back, but she’s not revealing that straight away. She’s being a bit secretive about why she has come back.’
