ITV Coronation Street : Oblivious Steve welcomes dashing Tommy Orpington into mischievous wife Tracy’s home

Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) is left wondering if he’s living one of his many dreams in Coronation Street soon as footballer Tommy Orpington enters his home.

Over Christmas, the famous face popped by Weatherfield and visited Tracy’s (Kate Ford) flower shop. They got chatting and soon, the characters will be thrown together again when Tracy calls on Tommy for his impressive skills with a paintbrush.

After a terrible birthday present from Steve, Tracy decides that she’d like her bedroom redecorating instead. However, when she tells Mary (Patti Clare) that Steve’s being a little bit lazy, an idea forms for Tracy when her friend tells her to hire a professional instead.

In this new video, we see the moment Tracy makes a brew for Tommy ahead of his new task.

The decorating, before you ask.

Tracy makes Tommy’s new job clear to Steve, and is excited by the prospect of the decorating getting underway.

But with Steve in France for a few days, what will happen when Tracy gets alone time with Tommy O?

This development comes ahead of a new storyline for Tommy and given this new video, it certainly looks set to involve Tracy – and a potentially heartbroken Steve McDonald.

‘Tommy’s now had to return to the trade he had when he was a non-league footballer, which is painter and decorator and, significantly, he is now single. There might be one of our female characters that needs some decorating done, not a euphemism,’ show boss Iain MacLeod told us.

‘There’s basically a story that evolves where this attractive, historically successful man arrives into one of our female character’s life and upsets the apple cart in fairly spectacular fashion, shall we say?’ he continued.

‘It’s very funny but potentially quite sad in certain places. It triggers something really big for us over the next 12 months, a big new direction for some characters so yeah, Tommy Orpington will finally be coming off the subs bench.’
