ITV Coronation Street’s Steve McDonald leaves Weatherfield ahead of Tracy’s affair
Steve's exit leads Tommy to make a move on Tracy.

Coronation Street‘s Steve McDonald is set to leave Weatherfield next week, paving the way for his wife Tracy’s affair with former Weatherfield County footballer Tommy Orpington.
Tommy and Tracy crossed paths on Christmas Day when Tommy popped into the flower shop to grab a last-minute gift, and they’ve now come back into contact after Tracy hired Tommy – who is now a professional decorator – to revamp her and Steve’s bedroom.
It has been confirmed that the pair will embark on a steamy fling behind Steve’s back, and the soap has now revealed exactly how their affair will start.

In scenes airing next week, Steve receives a call from his daughter, Emma Brooker, inviting him to come and spend the week in France with her. Steve is torn between going to see his daughter and staying at home to spend time with his hero, Tommy.
Steve eventually decides to go and see Emma, but as he leaves for France in his taxi, he watches with envy as Tommy pulls up in his van outside No.1 to continue the decorating work.

It isn’t long before Kevin Webster, Tim Metcalfe and Kirk Sutherland are heading over to fawn over Tommy, hoping to drag him into the pub for a drink.
Tracy quickly sends them packing and it’s clear that there’s a spark between her and Tommy, with Steve’s brief absence paving the way for their affair to begin.
Back at No.1, Tommy admits that he fancies Tracy and they quickly give into temptation. Will Steve uncover the truth when he returns, and how will he react to his idol betraying him in such a huge way?

Actor Matt Milburn, who has reprised his role as Tommy for the storyline, has explained why Tommy feels such a strong attraction to Tracy, saying, “I think he likes her sparky nature, her quick retorts and her banter is very sharp. He likes being kept on his toes.
“She’s not an easy target in many ways. I just think that they seem to have this chemistry between them that none of them see coming.”
