The opening instalment, which will also be the show’s 100th episode, will see Commissioner Selwyn Patterson shot by a mysterious assassin. The team must work together to find the person responsible, all while hoping the beloved character will survive.

Within this dramatic and tense storyline, Death in Paradise will welcome back Sean Maguire, who is the first ever guest actor to reprise their role.

‘I was lucky enough to be in the very first episode of #DeathInParadise now 12 years have passed & I was delighted to be asked back and appear in the 100th episode alongside the legend that is Don Warrington & a fab cast’, he wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of his family and Don Warrington.

As the series gets underway, Naomi and Darlene decide to double date, Marlon is forced to confront his future, and will Neville ever find happiness on the island after Florence’s (Josephine Jobert) departure, and the ordeal with Sophie (Chelsea Edge) last year?
