BBC EastEnders legend Charlie Brooks’ exciting new role revealed alongside popular Emmerdale star

EastEnders icon Charlie Brooks is swapping the Square for the stage and joining Emmerdale actor Liam Fox in the UK tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The legendary actress, 42, played bitchy Janine Butcher in the BBC soap sporadically between 1999 and 2022.

Her most recent departure saw her in a tense cliff-top showdown with Linda (Kellie Bright) and Mick Carter (Danny Dyer), leading to the former going missing at sea, presumed dead.

Upon returning back to the Vic, Janine blamed Linda for the ordeal and attempts to evict Linda and her mother-in-law Shirley (Linda Henry) from the pub, resulting in Shirley trying to strangle her.

Brother Ricky (Sid Owen) was mortified by his sister’s actions and called the police.

It was later revealed, off-screen, that she had been sentenced to five years imprisonment after pleading guilty and had given birth to Mick’s son behind bars.

Now, she’s set to take on a very different (albeit just as sinister) role in the nationwide tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: The Musical.

Playing the part of the Child Catcher, she will perform at thirteen venues across the UK.

The production is based on the 1968 film of the same name starring Dick Van Dyke, which in turn was an adaption of a book written by James Bond author Ian Fleming four years earlier.

Charlie will be joined on stage by Emmerdale actor Liam Fox, known for his role as Dan Spencer, who is playing Grandpa Potts.

Liam left the ITV soap last year with Dan being jailed for eight years for the death of creepy Lloyd Sawyer (Matt Sutton).

Lloyd had been stalking Dan’s daughter Amelia (Daisy Campbell) and killed him with a single punch.

He revealed last month that he was staying with his former co-star Bhaskar Patel whilst performing in London.

In a sweet Instagram post he wrote: ‘First day of rehearsals for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on Tour tomorrow, being looked after in London for the duration by my mucka Bhaskar Patel.’

‘Exciting times ahead.’
