BBC EastEnders legend Adam Woodyatt has a second job – and it’s about as Ian Beale as you can get

EastEnders icon Adam Woodyatt has landed another job on the side, and it’s so Ian Beale.

The soap veteran, 55, who has played café owner Ian since the beloved show launched in 1985, seems to have taken a leaf out of his character’s book as he’s currently working as a chef at Midsummer House, a restaurant in Cambridge.

In an Instagram post he penned: ‘Yesterday was like the first day at school. After two years of talking about doing it, I finally found time to spend a day working at @midsummer_house_ with @markabbottwa60 and @midsummerchef.’

He added: ‘The hours are long but being part of service was brilliant. With a watchful eye over me, I was plating up the Carlingford Oyster amuse bouche.

‘Today, I think I’ve got the very fiddly macaron to get the hang of.’

Over in EastEnders, Adam reprised his role as Ian last year alongside Thomas Law (Peter Beale) and Michelle Collins (Cindy Beale).

Prior to their Walford return, it was confirmed Ian and Cindy had reunited and were living in France.

Fans are also stunned to know it’s been a whole decade since Lucy Beale’s (Hetti Bywater) brutal death in EastEnders, and with mum Cindy back in the Square, fans are convinced the show has a huge surprise planned.

Long term viewers of the BBC soap will remember that the legacy character was found dead on Good Friday in 2014, and sparked an almost year long ‘whodunnit?’ storyline.

Culminating with the programme’s 30th anniversary celebrations, it was revealed that her half-brother Bobby Beale (then Eliot Carrington) had lashed out and killed her with the jewellery box she used to store her drugs.

With the anniversary fast approaching, fans have noticed that TV schedules have factored in for an hour long episode on 17th April – and social media has gone wild with speculation of her return.
