BBC EastEnders airs another huge twist in Christmas attack as one resident learns the truth

This article contains spoilers from part one of Friday’s (March 1) EastEnders double bill, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

EastEnders has aired another huge twist in its Christmas Day murder story, following Nish Panesar’s (Navin Chowdhry) call to the police in recent scenes.

Nish contacted DC Whisson after being humiliated by Kat and Stacey Slater (Jessie Wallace and Lacey Turner) and informed him that Stacey had been the one to attack him on Christmas Day.

The following day, Stacey was called in for questioning, and DC Whisson didn’t go easy on her. He soon picked up on inaccuracies in her story, leaving her with no choice but to turn to Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) for help.

When Jack failed to get Nish to drop his accusations against Stacey, he instead backed up her story that Nish was bitter about his break up with Kat and was desperate for revenge.

Thankfully, after Jack’s intervention, Stacey was free to go, though she soon raised Jack’s suspicions when she expressed her relief that the rest of The Six wouldn’t have to ‘remember their stories’.

Viewers will know that The Six came up with their own elaborate version of events in order to cover up the murder of Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) on Christmas Day.

Instead of admitting that Denise Fox (Diane Parish) had attacked Nish and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) had killed Keanu, they decided to tell police that Keanu had been the one to attack Nish before doing a runner.

After driving Stacey home, Jack confronted her about what she meant, and she was quick to cover, though Jack didn’t believe her.

He grew certain that she had been the one to attack Nish, and was horrified that Denise was suffering because she’d had to cover for her.

He went on to blame his affair with Stacey for Denise’s psychosis, and finally Stacey snapped, revealing the truth about Nish’s attack.

Jack was left stunned as he realised that Denise had been the one to hit Nish, and though Stacey tried to backtrack, the damage had been done, as Jack realised that there had been a huge coverup.

With Jack horrified by the truth, could he be set to report The Six to the police?
